7 Fun Things to See at London Paddington Station (Yes, Really!)

Think London Paddington Station is just for trains? Think again. These 7 fun, quirky, and hidden highlights will surprise you—even if you’re just passing through.

We passed through London Paddington Station on our way into the city and were surprised by how much there was to see beyond just platforms and departure boards. From nostalgic tributes to historic design, this major transit hub is full of charm. If you’re arriving, waiting, or even just changing trains, here are 7 fun things to see at London Paddington Station that’ll make you look at it in a whole new way.

Get To Know The Traveling Taylors!

🐻 1. Paddington Bear Statue on Platform 1

No visit is complete without finding Paddington Bear, the station’s most famous (and fictional) traveler. The bronze statue sits near Platform 1, right where the beloved bear was “found” in the stories.

Fun Tip: There’s also a Paddington Bear gift shop nearby—perfect for travel-themed souvenirs.

If you’re packing for several travel days, compression vacuum bags like these can help reduce the amount of space clothing takes up in your suitcase, making it easier to stay organized while moving between destinations.

🏛️ 2. Brunel’s Iconic Iron and Glass Roof

Designed by legendary engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the sweeping trainshed roof is an architectural gem. It dates back to 1854 and still stuns with its curved glass and ironwork.

Look Up: It’s even more impressive when sunlight streams through.

🖼️ 3. The Hidden Art & Murals

If you’re not rushing, look for various public art pieces—like the abstract steel sculpture “The Lawn” or murals celebrating Paddington’s railway history.

Where to Look: Upper level near the food court and mezzanine areas.

🧳 4. The Left Luggage Robot (Yes, Really)

Near Platform 12, the Excess Baggage Co. sometimes uses a small robot to help manage storage. It’s fun to spot—and makes your luggage drop feel like something out of the future.

Pro Tip: You can store bags here for sightseeing before hotel check-in.

Getting around the city is fairly straightforward thanks to its extensive public transportation system, and many travelers like using a secure phone holder like this one so they can easily follow navigation directions while walking or riding around.

🍽️ 5. The Mad Bishop & Bear Pub

Tucked away on the mezzanine level, this cozy pub is a great place to relax above the crowds. It has classic British fare, comfy seating, and a great view of the station below.

Great Spot: For waiting on a train or grabbing lunch with character.🚇 6. Multiple Tube Entrances (It’s Like a Mini Maze)

Paddington has two separate Underground stations with the same name, serving different lines. It’s quirky and confusing at first—but also kind of fun to explore.

Lines Served: Bakerloo, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City

📸 7. Hidden Corners with Big Views

Walk up to the glass railing near the mezzanine to get an aerial view of the platforms—ideal for photos or just soaking in the rhythm of the station.

We Loved: Watching trains arrive and seeing travelers hustle with their bags—it’s peak London energy.

If you plan to rent a car for day trips outside the city, a hands-free phone mount like this one can make it much easier to follow GPS directions safely while driving.

🧠 Don’t Just Rush Through Paddington

London Paddington Station isn’t just a launch point—it’s a destination in itself if you take a few moments to explore. From literary legends to ironwork ceilings, there’s plenty to enjoy beyond the next train. So next time you’re passing through, slow down and soak it all in—you might just find a bear, a pint, or a bit of history waiting for you.
