🕘 9:00 AM — Coffee with a View at Café Hafa

Start your day at Café Hafa, Tangier’s most iconic spot perched on the cliffs above the sea. Order a traditional mint tea, grab a seat overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar, and soak in the same views that once inspired the Rolling Stones and Paul Bowles.

Quick Tip: Bring small coins — some cafés prefer cash only, and tipping is expected.

🕌 10:00 AM — Stroll Through the Kasbah

From Café Hafa, walk uphill into the Kasbah, the ancient fortified part of Tangier. Wander the winding lanes, peek through arched doorways, and take in the calm, artistic vibe.

Don’t Miss:

  • The Kasbah Museum (Dar el Makhzen) with ancient artifacts and lush courtyards
  • The old palace architecture with Andalusian-Moroccan flair
  • Scenic views from the Bab Bhar lookout point

🛍️ 11:30 AM — Explore the Tangier Medina

Next, head down into the Medina, Tangier’s old town. It’s colorful, walkable, and less chaotic than other Moroccan cities.

Shop for:

  • Hand-painted ceramics
  • Woven bags and rugs
  • Local argan oil and spices

Barter Tip: Start with half the asking price and negotiate with a smile. It’s all part of the experience.

🍴 1:00 PM — Lunch at Le Saveur du Poisson

For a truly Tangier meal, head to Le Saveur du Poisson, an unassuming spot near the port. There’s no menu — you’ll be served whatever’s fresh and local, typically seafood with Moroccan spices, warm bread, olives, and seasonal fruit juice.

Pro Tip: Arrive early — this place fills up fast!

🚕 2:30 PM — Visit Cap Spartel & the Caves of Hercules

Hop in a taxi (or hire a driver) to explore Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Then stop by the Caves of Hercules, a myth-drenched sea cave that opens dramatically to the ocean in the shape of Africa.

Logistics: It’s about a 20-minute drive each way. Entry to the caves costs around 60 MAD.

☕ 5:00 PM — Afternoon Break at El Morocco Club

Back in the Kasbah, treat yourself to a coffee or cocktail at the stylish El Morocco Club. This place oozes old-Hollywood charm with a Moroccan twist. It’s a great spot to rest your feet and recharge before sunset.

🌅 6:30 PM — Sunset Walk Along the Corniche

Take a stroll along the Tangier Corniche, the seaside promenade lined with palm trees, cafés, and people watching. It’s especially magical at sunset, when the sky turns golden over the water.

Optional Detour: Walk down to Tangier Beach for a quick dip or just to put your toes in the sand.

🍽️ 8:00 PM — Dinner with a View at El Minzah

Wrap up your day with a memorable meal at El Minzah Hotel, one of Tangier’s most elegant and historic spots. The rooftop terrace offers sweeping views of the city and port, and the menu blends Moroccan flavors with Mediterranean finesse.

Try: Lamb tangine with prunes, seafood pastilla, or a classic couscous dish.

Why 24 Hours in Tangier Is Totally Worth It

Even with just one day, Tangier delivers a full sensory experience — from ancient medinas to oceanfront cafés, and myths to modernity. It’s Morocco’s gateway city with one foot in Europe and one in Africa, and it leaves you wanting more.

Disposable Hotel Slippers

We love hotel slippers, and some hotels give them and some do not, so we like to be prepared. Plus, the best part is, we can throw them out when we leave the hotel and make our suitcase lighter instead of carrying traditional bedroom slippers that we use at home.

Travel Packing Bags

We love these compression cubes! We are notorious over-packers, and these packing cubes help us keep our suitcase organized and underweight!
