Is Palm Jumeirah Worth Visiting? What Surprised Us the Most

Think Palm Jumeirah is just for luxury travelers? Here’s what shocked us most—from public beaches to cheap eats and secret sunset spots.

Is Palm Jumeirah Worth Visiting? What Surprised Us the Most

Is the Palm Jumeirah Just Hype?

Palm Jumeirah was at the top of our Dubai bucket list. But if we’re being honest, we wondered: is it just a fancy address for five-star hotels and Instagram influencers? We were fully prepared to gawk at the skyline and leave.

But then we discovered hidden beaches, affordable cafés, peaceful parks, and seriously stunning views.

If you’re asking, “Is Palm Jumeirah worth visiting?”, here’s everything that surprised us—and what might surprise you too.

Surprise #1: There Are Public Beaches (and They’re Amazing)

We expected high walls, security gates, and beach clubs with hefty cover charges. Instead, we found:

  • Palm West Beach: Free to access, clean, and filled with beachside cafés
  • The Pointe: Boardwalk views, waterfront seating, and the world’s largest fountain show

Tip: Bring your towel and sunscreen—you don’t need to be a guest to enjoy the sand here.

Surprise #2: The Monorail Is Scenic and Cheap

Most people grab a taxi to get around Palm Jumeirah—but they’re missing out.

The Palm Monorail offers:

  • Elevated views of the island’s “trunk” and fronds
  • A direct route to Atlantis, Nakheel Mall, and Palm Tower
  • Affordable rides (AED 20 one way)

Tip: Sit in the front car for the best views, especially at sunset.

Surprise #3: You Don’t Need to Be Rich to Dine Here

Sure, Atlantis has Michelin-starred restaurants. But we found plenty of affordable, delicious eats on the island:

  • Revo Café – Healthy, modern, and with a view
  • Banan Beach Café – Laid-back and perfect for smoothies by the water
  • Jones the Grocer – Chic, affordable brunch and coffee

You can also head to Nakheel Mall’s food court for global bites on a budget.

Surprise #4: It’s Surprisingly Walkable

We thought Palm Jumeirah would feel artificial. But walking along the Palm Boardwalk—with ocean on one side and skyline views on the other—was genuinely peaceful.

Other chill spots:

  • Al Ittihad Park – Palm trees, shaded benches, and no crowds
  • Golden Mile Galleria – Casual cafés and local vibes

Surprise #5: The View at The Palm is 100% Worth It

We debated whether to pay for another observation deck—but The View at The Palm gave us a whole new perspective.

From the 52nd floor of Palm Tower, you can see:

  • The full palm-tree shape of the island
  • Dubai Marina skyline
  • Atlantis in perfect symmetry

Tip: Go around 5 PM to catch golden hour and the sunset.

Surprise #6: You Can Visit Without Booking a Hotel

We assumed Palm Jumeirah was only accessible if you were staying there. Not true!

Easy day-trip options:

  • Metro + tram + monorail
  • Affordable taxis or rideshare
  • Park at Nakheel Mall (2 hours free parking)

Is Palm Jumeirah Worth It?

Absolutely—even if you’re not there for the luxury life. It’s a blend of glam, chill, and unexpected accessibility. From beachside brunches to photo ops and peaceful walks, Palm Jumeirah is one Dubai icon that lives up to the hype.

Our Travel Must-Haves

Universal Charging Adapter

A friend of ours told us about this universal adapter when we were in Greece, and our lives were forever changed. We used to have to carry multiple adapters but now only carry this one as it has an adapter for every country and supports wall and USB chargers!

On The Go Phone Charger

We purchased two of these because we loved it so much. We are constantly using our phones, taking photos and videos while we travel, and never want to run out of charge. These portable chargers keep our phones fully charged at all times!

Disposable Hotel Slippers

We love hotel slippers, and some hotels give them and some do not, so we like to be prepared. Plus, the best part is, we can throw them out when we leave the hotel and make our suitcase lighter instead of carrying traditional bedroom slippers that we use at home.

Travel Packing Bags

We love these compression cubes! We are notorious over-packers, and these packing cubes help us keep our suitcase organized and underweight!
